PSM's old-skool secrets

Jeez, I plumb forgot that I hadn't yet posted all of these things...

Here's one of the last few "endpage" cartoons I did (a year or two ago) for the videogame magazine PSM. I sleazed this one up for the magazine's 10th anniversary, and decided to make a few "callbacks" to what one might call (for lack of a better term) "PSM continuity."

Panel 1 refers to "Valkyrie Wylde," an old April Fool's joke in which PSM featured a faux news piece about an upcoming "nude raider" game starring a nekkid Lara-Crofty action heroine. To accompany the article, they worked up some faked screenshots, and I contributed a few images of nekkid "Val" with her naughty bits censored...

(Side note: You can see a recent Val sketch I did at: [link] BTW, check out the comments on that piece, and you will behold a few DAers bitching about said illo's "appalling censorship, maaaaan"; then, thrill to the irony that this appallingly censored piece has far, FAAAAAR more pageviews than anything I've posted in many moons... Hrmmm.)

Panel 2 refers to a big ol' sticker PSM used to include in the magazine, which you could plaster onto the lid of your Playstation (your PS1, that is) if you wished. Personally, I never did that, in part because I had a first-gen, maddeningly overheating-prone PS1, as addressed in panel 3.

Anyhoo, shortly after this, PSM became the Official Playstation Magazine, and shortly after that, my time on the magazine was over. (Had to take a month off to wrap up EMPOWERED vol. 3, and after that point we never quite devised a way to integrate my efforts into the new format. Oh, well.) Still, the gig was a lot of fun while it lasted... and hell, I prolly had a longer run with this feature than I did on GEN13, come to think of it.
