Description
Navel-centric figure practice for Empowered vol.10, referenced off stills from Spring Breakers(!) and the photography of William Mortensen. As I’m presently drawing Emp a bit softer and, uh, “fleshier” in a belated attempt to differentiate her body from the theoretically more idealized physiques of Ninjette and Sistah Spooky, thought I should probably work on some “belly studies” at some point, as that's one area where her more pronounced softness might be conspicuous.
Was impressed yet again by how little anatomy I actually know; good thing I that consider myself a writer who happens to be able to draw rather than a “true artist” as such, or I’d be even more annoyed with my dire level of artistic ignorance.

Your work shows a great deal of
anatomical knowledge.
More importantly, your figures actually look like they can move as they do.
Many comic book artists spend too much time imitating and not understanding how things work.
