FSHOOM-tastic page from EMPOWERED: PEW PEW PEW!

Here's a rather dramatic page from November 25's one-shot Empowered: Pew Pew Pew!, the newest installment in my ongoing “sexy superhero comedy” series published by Dark Horse Comics. (As the page's FSHOOM-ing sound FX hint, the one-shot's title is well-earned.)

Here's the issue's solicitation copy:

The laser blasts fly as costumed crime fighter Empowered battles a series of puzzlingly rage-fueled supervillains, each one armed with a bigger and more destructive "supergun" than the last. Ah, but might our long-suffering heroine's own buried resentments and repressed bitterness prove to be her deadliest foes? (SPOILER: Yes, pretty much.)

If you''re feeling magnanimous, the thumbnail below features an image that can be saved, printed out and presented to Your Local Comics Store as a means of pre-ordering the comic. I know that’s rather a hassle to do, but pre-ordering is the only way to ensure that any given comics store will actually stock a copy of the issue. The dreaded Final Order Cutoff (FOC) for the book is November 2, so the form below should be presentable right up to that date.



Pew Pew Pew! is the first "floppy"-format issue of Empowered to be written and drawn entirely by yours truly since 2010 or so; thought I'd try drawing a new one myself to see how well it would sell in today's market, compared to the last few years' Guest-Artist-drawn one-shots. (No idea, to be honest.) Never fear, new Empowered Guest Artist stories will appear in the future, but lining 'em up and scheduling 'em is proving a challenging task, as opposed to the release ease of quickly cranking out an issue entirely on my own.
