EMPOWERED's Ninjette Q+A, page 1 of 4 by AdamWarren EMPOWERED's Ninjette Q+A, page 1 of 4 by AdamWarren

Behold, page 1 (of 4) from a "Ninjette answers your questions" comics feature* I cranked out in a desperate and quite possibly misguided attempt to promote the release of Empowered vol. 7, the latest installment of my ongoing "sexy superhero comedy" series published by Dark Horse Comics.

Empowered vol. 7 is now on sale at your Local Comics Store, and should arrive in conventional bookstores some time shortly. More info here: [link]

Anyhoo, if you've read the book and care to weigh in on the experience, feel free to leave a comment here, in a SPOILER ALERT zone: [link]

And now, the floggery: Empowered vol. 7 can be found at your Local Comics Retailer (or bookstore, possibly), or online at Dark Horse's retail website [link] or on [link] .

Say, here's Empowered vol. 7's cover, without the logo:

And here's the book's back-cover copy:

While costumed crimefighter Empowered makes a startling discovery regarding her unfortunate status as an all-too-frequent "damsel in distress," her hard-drinking best friend Ninjette confronts her own sordid past, violent present and frighteningly uncertain future as she fights a desperate, single-handed battle against a entire clan of supernaturally durable ninja warriors. Can our two hard-luck heroines also withstand the further perils posed by supervillainous minivans, dueling sets of "daddy issues," doomed-but-still-hot boyfriends, undead karaoke party-crashers, and even "spoiler alerts from hell itself" voiced by diabolically omniscient demonspawn?

In closing, I must of course paste in the requisite general-purpose Emp-related floggery: Print copies of Empowered's first six volumes (and a pair of one-shots in comics format) can be found on the shelves of your Local Comics Retailer or bookstore, or online at Dark Horse's retail website [link] or on [link] . All the existing Empowered books can be purchased rather more cheaply in digital form as well, via the Dark Horse Digital store: [link]

*Side note: The questions were harvested from Empowered readers in the comments section of the following journal entry: [link]

Very funny :D
Since the last volumes, Ninjette became my favourite character, I love her more and more
Emp is now 2nd, and Mindf**k still 3rd.
I also just bought the deluxes 1 and 2 because my 4 french volumes have begun a strange process of self-destruction (the originals 5, 6 and 7 I have bought when I learnt that there would not be any more french volumes last year are of better material and print quality, the vol.7 being even better than the 2 others).

Well, that's what happens when you have a bunch of corporations who are so fucking uptight about things like that. :)

On one hand you should almost send submission letters to the beer companies...
Good way to get a couple thou minimum and almost guarantee a movie/animation deal...

Then again, they'd get sh-- from the government "They are marketing BEER in COMIC BOOKS! Think of the CHILLLLDDREEENNNN...." Like, who cares about the economy being looted bare while the government drives off the cliff as they fight for the steering wheel, "Think of the CHilldreeennnnnnn"

Because Kami-sama FORBID that a beer maker should see their product name-checked in a graphic novel with blood, guts, and barely-concealed lady parts. Sounds like a pack of lawyers took a meaty bite out of your ass the last time you had a favorite beer being enjoyed in a less-than-responsible manner by 'Jette. Or at least they sent you a cease-and-desist order. Maybe you should have a brewery pay for product placement, or come up with a comical name for her beer, in the tradition of Duff, Buzz, or even Shotz. Nice work.

Brands should be HAPPY for the free advertising!

Finn fact:

Koff is a Finnish brand of beer (and has been for ages, it's not a Duff parody). It's from the name of the maker, Sinebrychoff.

Oddly enough, that's the same reason why people in movies & TV are always playing with, peeling off the labels on a bottle of beer.
