DIRTY PAIR+BUBBLEGUM CRISIS by *AdamWarren:iconAdamWarren:

Artist's Comments

Here's a seriously old commissioned sketch, circa 1995 by my guess*, featuring DIRTY PAIR's Kei and Yuri switching costumes with the Knight Sabers from BUBBLEGUM CRISIS, as scanned from a remarkably crappy photocopy of the original. This sketch came about presumably because, around this time, I'd just wrapped up writing and drawing the BUBBLEGUM CRISIS: GRAND MAL miniseries for Dark Horse, and was moving on to another Dirty Pair project.

I believe the Spanish version of the Knight Sabers' name, "Los Caballeros Sable", might actually taken from a BGC translation and may, in fact, be (semi-)accurate... I sure as hell wouldn't have come up with "Sable"(?) on my own. "Los Angeles Bonitas" for "Lovely Angels," however, is almost certainly pure bullcrap. (I used to know a little French, but never knew much of any Spanish, in case you can't tell.)

*Judging by the DP's hair design, and the old-style DP outfits worn by the Knight Sabers.

Love how Nene is sizing out her butt!

"Los Sables del Caballero" and "Los Ángeles Encantadores"… drop 'Los' if you wish to drop 'The'.

Loooong time fan of your work, the DP are my fave, your version the best ever!

Um, "Las" in all cases where the subjects are exclusively female. Unless I need to go look up Spanish for "trap". :) Las Angeles Bonitas works okay. Las Caballeras Sables is indeed Sabre Knights or Knight Sabres, for all that it looks like engrish passed through spanglish.

"Caballeros Sable" is a good translation. But for Lovely Angels is better "Angeles Encantadores".
:iconmagneticrain:
im not certain but i think you can go with "las angelas bonitas" and "caballeras sables" , since spanish (and most latin origin languages have separeted words for the male and female of "knight" and "angel"). But what the heck, it is done and pretty understandable! You've got an excellent work here as always, mr. Warrem!

That's a nice crossover ^ ^

I finally found a comic shop in my area that carries your old series and Empowered. I just bought the first three books of it. I love it!

Keep on churning out the art!

hahahahahaha quite funny sketch! Being a native spanish-speaker, I can state that a correcto way to say it would be "Los ángeles encantadores" and "Los Caballeros Sable" or "Las caballeras Sable". There's no female form for "angel" in spanish, and regarding the knight sabers, the thing is that officially, there's not a female word for "knight", since we use "caballero" to refer to both knights ans gentlemen. So, "las Caballeras" would be kind of a made-up word, but it would be gender-accurate.

Heheh, funny how most comments so far have been about the spanish thingie, right? :D

This is very 'Fatal but Not Serious' - probably the most traditionally 'Manga' your drawing/writing style has ever been.
