An old-ish con sketch of Nene and Linna from BUBBLEGUM CRISIS. Yes, they indeed have lips, in this version of the characters; please, just DEAL WITH IT, those of you who are prone to conniptions at the very idea of an anime character with a mouth that's not entirely muppet-like. After all, shockingly enough, a burgeoning number of "real manga-ka" (that is, authentic Japanese artists) actually draw visible lips on their characters nowadays...
Amusingly enough, I turned to the inside back cover of EMPOWERED vol. 1 (my "sexy superhero comedy" from Dark Horse, on sale this Wednesday, March 21st!) and was stunned to discover that Dark Horse apparently still has copies of the TPB of BUBBLEGUM CRISIS: GRAND MAL for sale! GRAND MAL was my 1994 miniseries telling a new tale of the Knight Sabers; I'm quite surprised to find it's still available. |
